Michael Greeff is an experienced specialist in the modernization of natural history collections.
He leads the Entomological Collection of ETH Zurich, where his main responsibilities lie with the mass digitization of insect specimens, public outreach activities and the strategic development of the collection. Before this, he assisted in the successful spin-off of the company Clueda AG, which was sold to Baader Bank AG in 2015. He headed as team and product manager Clueda’s medical sector, which offered software solutions for knowledge extraction from health records.
He did his Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology at ETH Zurich in 2007, investigating reproductive strategies in insect model systems. At the Helmholtz Zentrum München, he continued as postdoctoral research associate in bioinformatics and developed systems biological disease models by semantic text mining of the PubMed database.
