Mario von Rickenbach is a game designer, artist and creative coder. He creates playful interactive experiences with the goal of tickling the audiences’ senses.
Mario von Rickenbach gained his Bachelor of Arts degree in game design from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). He co-founded Playables, a production company for interactive media which publishes playful projects at the junction between animation and game design. He worked on various award-winning games like KIDS, Plug & Play, Dreii, Rakete and My Exercise.
Mario is also a guest lecturer at ECAL where he teaches interaction design.
During the Accelerate@CERN artistic research residency, he was investigating the potential of visualising matter at different scales together with interactive media artist Nadya Suvorova. They continued their exploration of matter through different scales in an interactive documentary called MIKMA.
At the ETH Library Lab he works together with Nadya Suvorova on their project “Material Reality“. The project aims to give a wider perspective and educate students and young professionals about the role of materials in the global resource ecosystem in a playful and motivating way.
